Getting here

  • See road closure information.
  • Public transport is the best way to get around on New Year’s Eve, with thousands of additional services running.
  • Train

    The closest station is North Sydney.

  • Metro

    The closest Metro station is Victoria Cross Metro station.

  • Bus

    • Buses will be using different stops and routes due to road closures.
    • Buses that usually run to Blues Point will start and end trips in North Sydney CBD from 3pm, continue on foot down to the foreshore.
  • Ferry

    McMahons Point wharf will close at 10am, with limited ferries resuming after the midnight fireworks.

  • Walk

    Access into Blues Point vantage point is on-foot from Blues Point Road.

  • Drive

    Roads around McMahons Point will begin closing from 7pm 30 December with major road closures from 5pm on New Year’s Eve, leave the car at home. No parking available and roads will be closed.

Getting home

  • Pedestrian diversions are in place on New Year’s Eve. The way you arrive, may be different to how you get home. Be prepared for a longer walk to transport hubs.
  • Follow the directions of NSW Police and staff on site.
  • A 'Getting home North Sydney' transportation map will be provided closer to the event.
  • Train

    If you’re travelling home back towards the city catch trains from North Sydney Station from Blue Street.

  • Metro

    If you’re traveling north catch the Metro from Victoria Cross from Miller Street.

  • Bus

    Buses towards the Northern Beaches leave from Berry Street, buses towards the north shore and Hills district leave from Miller Street near McLaren St.

  • Ferry

    Limited ferries will leave from McMahons Point after the midnight fireworks.
